Cop This: Mansur Gavriel Bucket Bag

(So...once a month I'll be sharing with you all one of the hottest items you can get at the moment. I usually only share this information with close friends and family...You're welcome.)

The new It bag on the block is the Mansur Gavriel Bucket Bag (pictured above in Flamma) and they are selling like hot cakes. I even tried to get my hand on one a few months ago, but didn't succeed. But don't be discouraged. The new brand just launched an e-shop yesterday! Of course, most of the colors are sold out, but they still have a few left! Head on over to the website and get yours, and you'll instantly be the new It girl in town.

I'm Inspired By: Bianca Jagger

At USC, I took a fashion communications class and I had to write a paper on a style icon. I decided to write about Bianca Jagger because I believe she is the personification of style, and remains an influence to popular designers of this day, after more than 40 years. Married to Mick Jagger, great friend and muse to the American designer Halston, and an inspiration to Andy Warhol, Bianca Jagger was the epitome of all “It” girls of the 1970s, turning heads as she challenged trends. While most famous style icons of the 1970s are mostly known for their sequins, big hair, or beauty, Bianca was also challenging the line between masculinity and femininity. I decided to give a modern twist to what Bianca would wear today. Maroon 5 may rave about having the “Moves like Jagger,” yet they could never have the “Style like Jagger.”

This Should Hold You

Tank: H&M/Pants: Parker/Shoes: Zara(no longer available) /Necklace: Indigo Memphis/Bracelets: Lulu's, Francesca's (sold out)

I hope everyone is having a great week! I know I am! I just started a new job and I'm truly enjoying every minute of it. It's in the fashion business, so I'm grateful for it. I love everything I'm learning because these new skills I have acquired will aid me in becoming a boutique owner in the near future. I went to college in Los Angeles, so I have been to plenty of the boutiques there, and I hope to bring that vibe to Memphis. As you can see (or will see in future posts), I'm really into basic wardrobe staples and I love to build upon them with statement pieces that make the outfit pop. And of course, that will be the focus of my future my boutique. So get ready readers...a new boutique coming to a neighborhood near you.

Orange is the New Black

Happy Monday! This past weekend, I binge watched one of my favorite shows, Orange is the New Black. The second season just premiered on Netflix on Friday, and just like the first season, I watched all 13 episodes in 2 days. I decided to dedicate this post to the show for opening my eyes to the justice system and how prison life is a real learning experience in terms of embracing diversity, survival, and self-awareness. I encourage you to read the book, Orange is the New Black by Piper Kerman, to learn more about what it's like for a woman to call prison home, because everyone there isn't "just a simple woman doing the work of the Lord." (As said by Tiffany "Pennsatucky" Doggett)

The Proof of the Pumps is in the Wearing

Photography by Tiera Chanel

For months I have gone back and forth, trying to figure out what I would name this blog. I was starting to give up on the idea until I went to church and my pastor preached "the proof is in the pudding." The original proverb is, "the proof of the pudding is in the eating,” which means that you have to try out the food for yourself in order to know whether it is any good. You can’t just take someone else’s word for it; you have to try it yourself! So in fashion terms, I came up with “The Proof of the Pumps.” I want you, as a reader of my blog, to not only take my word for what’s in style and what may or may not work for you, but also try things out for yourself. I want to inspire you to look your best and help you with your style the best way I can. But first, I challenge you to go out and experience life, but to also look good while you’re doing it because after all, the proof of the pumps is in the wearing.
